Keeping the Shadows Alive: A Look at Nocturnazine

The ninth issue of Nocturnazine, titled Silencio, shows why this magazine has become such an important part of the underground. It feels alive, both in its design and in its writing, carrying the same intensity and atmosphere that defines the music it covers.

Visually, Silencio is stark and commanding. The layout is sharp and uncluttered, letting the words and images breathe. It mirrors the mood of the scene: heavy contrasts, space, and a focus on feeling rather than gloss. Nothing looks out of place. Everything feels deliberate.

The content is equally strong. This issue moves through different corners of the underground, from coldwave to industrial to post-punk hybrids, but never feels scattered. Each piece belongs to the larger whole. The writing is passionate and thoughtful without drowning itself in pretension. It is music criticism that feels more like testimony, like voices from within the shadows pointing out where to look next.

For me, this issue was personal. I had the chance to contribute several reviews, covering artists whose work deserves the spotlight. Writing for Nocturnazine is not about chasing trends or clicks. It is about documenting what is happening in the underground, capturing sounds and movements that might otherwise slip away unnoticed. Being a part of that effort reminded me why I started ZADAR in the first place.

In a time where so much music journalism is shallow and disposable, Nocturnazine proves that independent writing still matters. It honors the underground, it gives space to artists who need it, and it helps the scene keep moving forward. Silencio is not just another issue. It is a continuation of something larger, a ritual of sound and silence that connects those of us who refuse to let this music fade.
